It's Done! It's Done! aka the return of the Retro Cat.

“Don’t Worry Be Hippie” by Barbara Ana is complete.  Huzzah!!

So now it’s on to, or rather back to the Retro Cat.  Here’s what it looked like when last seen.

Admittedly it still looks the same since I haven’t worked on it yet. J But there’s a new week of stitching to look forward to so I plan to make some progress on that blue of the window.

More of the same.

I was going to complain about this not being done yet but that’s just a waste of time.  Kind of like yesterday when I managed not to stitch at all.  Not the kind of March madness to indulge in.

So today I stitched.  And to prove it all the stitching is in.  All there is left is the backstitch.  Which should be easy but given the way I go about these things who knows? J

She's got legs!

The girl that is, not the bird.  The bird has a body though so that’s something.

I’d really like to get this finished soon before I start too many other things. J
At any rate my WIPocalypse projects need attention so maybe that will keep the starting bug at bay.  Till the next full moon at least.

IHSW February

Every time I look at Be Hippie I think it’s close to being finished.  If I was stitching on it every time I looked at it, it probably would be. J

Still it’s coming along.  A little more done on the top and the bottom.  I changed the flower in her hair from white to variegated and was pleased (?) to find the white in the bird doesn’t show up any better.  They both get backstitched so that should help.
Nothing else new to report.  Have a great week.

Stitch, Rip, Repeat

That was my yesterday.  Stitch the part, notice it didn’t line up, rip it out and try again.  Now I finally notice that the reason it still wasn’t right was because the first part wasn’t right. Sigh.  There was only one thing to do – move on to something else. J
So I added some to Be Hippie.  I only had to redo one ray on the sun.  The bottom of her top (?) and the flower were variegated.  Apparently one stitch at a time was easier for me to follow.  Did I have the headband in last time?  I liked the colors in the word hippie so much I blended them together.

Today I went back to what I was working on yesterday.  I took out the offending section (scissors are my friend) and started over.  Then I kept going.  You’ll never guess what happened next.  I finished!

That’s all for now.

Love is in the air.

Actually around here it was snow.  Snow that led to a spontaneous stitching weekend. This gave me a chance to finish that last word and add some pink hearts.  I should keep going and complete that one side.  Which means the next part will be the headband and the sun rays. J

See you for the WIPocalypse check in.

Big Bang Finished

No really, it’s all done.  My search for what I thought would be the perfect fabric turned up two others that worked out fairly well instead.  The only thing I didn’t plan right was the hanger.  I sewed two jump rings on back and thought I could run a ribbon through it and hang it up. Whoops!  Bunched right up.  Then I stuck a knitting needle through the rings and found the look I wanted.  So since I’m not parting with my knitting needle my brother will just have to find his own hanger.  Strangely I did make it work with a straw as well.  May be I’ll give him one of those. J

Also, I had it around so long I came up with a design for the title.

Between that and working on my WIPocalypse projects I managed a few more stitches on Be Hippie.  I finished the blue swirls in her top.  For my next trick I really need to get that last word done.

Laid back IHSW

Not too bad.  I finished the yellow color I decided on for her top and started on the blue.  Plus, I picked out the other color I’m going to use for that last word (hippie).  So progress with the potential for more.  Always a good thing.

Here’s to a great week ahead.

Almost

I started working on Be Hippie again the other night.  While I was stitching the yellow I was almost thinking it would have looked better on blue fabric.  Lucky for me, when I got it out in daylight I decided I liked it this way.  So I plan to work on it for IHSW this weekend and have more progress come Monday.

Answering the call

After making some progress on the Retro Cat and Haunted House last weekend I got back to the other member of the trio, Be Hippie.  While still plotting (or trying to decide?) on various color changes I did more stitching on the sun and put on one sleeve.  I would have put on the last word too, but its two different colors and I was too lazy to get up and hunt for the other one.  Maybe next time. J

Kate at Momuboocrea Island is hosting her first exchange and I’m excited to take part.  The theme is Santa Claus and if you’re interested in taking part check out Kate’s blog here

In the meantime, have a great week.

Happy October

I’m going to try to keep this brief so maybe I can still get to the one thing that hasn’t been worked on this week – the Retro Cat.  Not a stitch was made by me.  Or the Fairies, Elves or Brownies, they must have been busy too.
A little progress on other things to sort of make up for it.
More words on Be Hippie:

And more purple on the Haunted House:

That’s really about all for this weekend.  Have a fabulous week ahead and keep smiling!  It’s as easy to do as anything.  And it does make people wonder. J

I got a little distracted...

From the Retro Cat that is.  I blame it on the extra fabric from the Be Hippie sitting too close to these Halloween designs.  Suddenly I just had to find out how this haunted house would look on there.  The answer so far is pretty good.  That’s mostly because of the purple I think.  Not the first color that comes to mind but it seems to work.

As far as the Be Hippie picture goes there’s some progress to report.  I’ve finished her hair and part of the sun.  Then I started on the words because I like that color. J  I haven’t found a color I like for her headband yet.  I may look at solid colors instead of variegated.

And after that I really did make some progress on the Retro Cat.  I finished all the leaves.  I keep wanting to say that’s one whole color done.  Then I remember the cat’s eyes are green too.  Ah well, getting closer.  I’ll save that picture for next time.

My IHSW and some progress

It’s Sunday night and the end of another IHSW.  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress.
Apparently taking up larger projects than I normally do has come with a strange side effect.  I want to adapt them.  Take my new project.  It’s called “Don’t Worry, Be Hippie” by Barbara Ana Designs.  The changes to this one were motivated by what I didn’t have.  Like the fabric. J  This is what stash is really for isn’t it?  The pattern calls for 6 different shades of DMC variations floss.  Naturally from the 20 skeins I have I’m still short one.  So the pants become a different color – no worries.  After that it calls for an Anchor multicolor shade I didn’t even know existed.  Good thing I have all those other colors to choose from.  I haven’t decided what I’m replacing that with just yet.
Believe it or not, I did actually start.  You couldn’t really tell at first because the skin tone is so close to the fabric color.  It helps now that I have the cheeks and hair on both sides.

All that adjusting has caused me to look at my Retro Cat picture differently as well.  While learning to cope with the fact that I’m not going to zoom through the wall as quickly as I hoped (!?) I started considering some color changes to other bits.  The chair should still be orange but the lamp doesn’t have to be the same shade right.  Guess we’ll see if I remember when I get to that part.

Have a great week.
